This Wisconsin newborn studio session captured the sweetest early days with twins in a simple, comfortable studio setting.
Those first few weeks with a newborn can feel like such a blur, which is exactly why I love getting to document this stage. And with twins, there are twice as many tiny details to capture!
This Wisconsin newborn studio session was centered around simplicity and letting the focus stay on these two little ones and their family. A studio is such a great setting for newborn photos because everything is already there and ready to go. You can enjoy a slow-paced session, and not have to worry about getting your own home photo-ready during an already busy season of life.
And in the end you’ll have a beautiful gallery filled with all the tiny newborn details, photos of each baby, and lots of sweet moments together as a family.

It’s always a good idea to reach out to your newborn photographer well before your baby arrives. Since due dates are really just an estimate, you don’t necessarily need to know the exact date of your session when you book. Instead, your photographer can get your due date on the calendar and give you an idea of the timeline they typically recommend.
Most newborn sessions take place within the first few weeks after birth, but there’s definitely some flexibility depending on the style of photos you want. Reaching out during pregnancy gives you one less thing to figure out once your baby is here and also gives you plenty of time to talk through outfits, what to bring, and what you can expect at the studio.
And if you’re expecting twins, having that flexibility can be especially helpful since twins often have their own timeline!

Newborn studio sessions are meant to move at a slower pace. There’s plenty of time built in for feeding, diaper changes, soothing, and anything else your baby might need throughout the session. There’s no expectation that your newborn needs to sleep the entire time or that everything has to go perfectly.
Before your session, your photographer will usually give you guidance on anything you need to bring and how to prepare. Depending on the studio, blankets, wraps, swaddles, or other simple pieces may already be provided. You may just need to bring your usual diaper bag, extra milk or feeding supplies if needed, pacifiers, and anything specific you’d like included in the photos. For family photos, keeping outfits simple and neutral works really well in a studio. Soft colors and minimal patterns keep the photos feeling timeless and make sure the focus stays on your family.
Most importantly, you don’t need to stress about getting your newborn on the perfect schedule beforehand. Feed them when they need to eat, take breaks when you need them, and expect to spend a little extra time settling in. Your photographer will guide you through the rest!
