A classic studio maternity session is one of my favorite ways to celebrate this season of motherhood. There is something so timeless about a clean studio space, diffused natural lighting, and a mama who is absolutely glowing with anticipation. As a Wisconsin family photographer, I am always honored to document this part of your journey.
This session was especially meaningful because I had the chance to help style each look. We planned three outfits that felt cohesive, elevated, and true to her.
We began with a soft linen look in beautiful neutral tones. She wore a ribbed beige top paired with flowy linen harlem pants and an oversized white button down. The textures were light, but added that visual interest. She looked relaxed and radiant, as she stood against the seamless backdrop, gently cradling her belly. I love capturing these quiet moments of motherhood. I know how much busyness is involved in the task of parenting as a fellow mom. So I really prioritize these quiet moments in the studio.
For the next look, we shifted into a double denim vibe that brought a little edge while still feeling timeless. A white fitted tank layered under a chambray button down paired with distressed, patterned jeans created a fun contrast. The modern look was a fun way to switch it up. And sitting in a cozy boucle chair by the window, she laughed and rested her hands on her belly. She embodied the vibe I had envisioned with this look!
We wrapped up with a stripped back look that was one of my favorites. A long sleeve black tee and matching underwear created a stunning silhouette. Against the white wall and sheer curtains, the focus was entirely on her shape and the life she is carrying.
If you are expecting and wanting to book a maternity photo shoot, I recommend scheduling your session between 30 and 34 weeks. That is when your belly is beautifully round, but you are still feeling comfortable enough to move and pose. It is best to reach out during your second trimester to secure your date.
This classic studio maternity session was about honoring this chapter in her life in an honest and elevated way. Simple styling. Beautiful light. Images you will treasure for a lifetime. I already can’t wait for my next one in the studio.
